Background of the Study
Birnin Kudu Local Government Area (LGA) in Jigawa State has a significant informal trading sector, which plays an essential role in the local economy. Informal traders, who often engage in small-scale, unregulated commerce, contribute to employment and income generation in the region. However, the informal trade sector is heavily influenced by geopolitical pressures, including local government policies, state-level regulations, national economic strategies, and global market dynamics. Issues such as fluctuating political climates, border policies, and taxation regimes have created both opportunities and challenges for informal traders in Birnin Kudu. 1.2 Statement of the Problem
